It is the duty of the vendor to provide a Safety Certificate when selling their vehicle and to provide a Queensland Transport transfer form. This form will show from whom the car is being purchased, who the purchaser is, the amount being paid for the car, details of the Safety Certificate and Stamp Duty.

When buying privately the purchaser is required to submit the transfer form signed by the seller, with the Safety Certificate to Queensland Transport within 14 days after the date of sale.

You as the purchaser have a duty to pay the Stamp Duty and the Transfer of Registration fee.
